On Anniversaries

Abby Lab here - tomorrow is Mom and Dad's 3rd anniversary so I'm just going to post some pictures from their wedding. They were married in Mom's home by a friend of theirs who is a retired minister and best-selling sci-fi author. Everyone wore their favorite fantasy costumes (no capes til the reception though). Mom was a Renaissance maiden, Dad was in Victorian garb, and one of her bridesmaids was in a kilt. They had a little Dr. Who Themed cake (Mom and Dad are huge fans of that BBC show and with Mom's red hair and Dad's penchant for bow ties, they looked like the characters on the series at the time.) and after cake and refreshments everyone headed over to the Irish pub for dinner. It was the most fun, no stress wedding ever.

Hard to believe it's been 3 years.  That's Mom's favorite picture above which one of her friends just took with their cell phone while she put Dad's ring on him. I think Mom looks pretty good for fifty-five there and Dad, at twenty-mumble mumble something, looked dashing. They've been together for years as Mom met him online right when he got out of college and she'd just finished her Pee - H.- Dee. HIS Dad is a Fed, like Mom, and he introduced them.  After a few years commuting back and forth to see each other, the whole marriage thing just felt like the right time and they've given me such a great fur-ever home. So tonight, those of you with opposable thumbs lift a toast and give your own sweetie a kiss. Abby
“Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today. Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all. Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and the Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.”
— River Song, Season 6, Episode 13
“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”
— The Doctor, Season 6, Episode 6
“You don’t just give up. You don’t just let things happen. You make a stand! You say no! You have the guts to do what’s right, even when everyone else just runs away.”
— Rose Tyler, Season 1, Episode 13
“Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!”
—The Doctor, Season 7, Christmas Special
The Doctor: "Amy, you'll find your Rory. You always do. But you really have to look."
Amy: "I am looking."
The Doctor:" Oh, my Amelia Pond. You don't always look hard enough."
Doctor Who - Season Six, Episode 13
“There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”
— The Doctor, Season 6, Episode 6
“We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?”
— The Doctor, Season 5, Episode 13

    1. Mom knew he was a keeper when on their first weekend together as a couple and she blew her meniscus out on an icy fall, he drove 200 miles to take care of Barkley while she had her surgery, then stayed and took care of them both for two weeks instead of doing Christmas with his family and going to China on an important business trip.

  15. Thank you everyone. We had a great anniversary. It was long work days for both of us, so I called in Thai take out (there's a tiny ma and pa place in our village that's awesome) and husband picked it up. I had wine poured and candles lit and after supper we opened our presents and had a group snuggle on the couch with Abby Lab.

    Good memories.
