So Much for that Dry Spell

Abby Lab here - Mom and Dad's basement is flooded.  There have been almost six inches of rain since last night.  Two streets over the whole street is flooded a foot deep all away across the street, but our street is OK (as I think all the water went in everyone's basement).  Even the neighbor with the pump has water inside.

Mom said an HBO word - the brand new expensive sleeping bags (minus 30 degrees kind) were left on a cooler instead of being put on a shelf down in the basement when they arrived, and the cooler floated and one of them fell off and got wet.  Oops!

We'll see you all Monday, lots to do and clean up today and Mom is doing some cooking tomorrow for their church's Octoberfest! So Mom told me to just chill.

  1. So sorry about the water! I hope that you're able to make "quick work" of the clean up so you can get back to your regular scheduled programming. Take care!

    1. The sewer seems to be draining again, so my husband it down with broom getting more water down the drain. Outside of two boxes of camping supplise and the sleeping bag that got wet, no real damage. Still one more heavy band of weather and hopefully it will be over.

Aw heck, that's no good... then again, if it had to happen, better the basement than anywhere else. Just so long as your darling paws are dry Abby dog, and the kitchen is still operational, then its thanks for small mercies! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Mom is looking forward to the Octoberfest at Church. It's a big potluck and there's a local band that plays all kinds of music (big band, orchestra, polkas you name it) that is going to play as the church let's them store their travel trailer in our parking lot. The last one they played at was a blast. Mom was asked to bring her famous cornbread, which is not German in the slightest but everyone loves it (it has two sticks of butter, sour cream and creamed corn in with the stone ground cornmeal from the local Graue Mill) plus 2 bottles of wine. 7. We woke up to snow on the ground, but that is better than a flooded basement. Glad there was not too much damage

    1. We've got most of it cleaned up. Other than one sleeping bag that fell onto the floor no collateral damage.

  9. We just had a big storm hit—BLAM!!!—raining and blowing like a hurricane! It must have been your storm that moved east over the Lakes to our area in WNY. Hopefully you won't have any more water damage. Too bad we can't send this rain to California where they need it more!

It was hailing here yesterday mom thought it might snow.

    1. Fortunately, the basement has cement floor and cement up a foot on each wall, so other than a few items that were laying on the floor, no damage.
