This morning I noted a late model VW bug that was apparently disabled and had pulled onto the grass edge of the road so not to block traffic. It's quite dark and muddy out there, not the best place to break down.
There were two gentlemen bent down over the engine as I approached, working away.
In my headlights I saw two skunks lumbering quickly towards them, to see what the noise was about I guess.
The men would not see them coming, and I was not in a position to stop as I had someone on my bumper doing 40 mph.
Somehow I do NOT think that ended well.

Mom remembers one time many moons ago when she was a teacher, she was earning some extra money by being a proctor for the SAT exams at the high school. Her principal gave her a special assignment. She was to administer the exams to ONE girl in a room all by herself - the girl had been skunk sprayed that morning - it was a stinky morning for Mom:)

Hopefully the skunks veered off so the uprights were saved by avoidance. A direct hit would be added insult to injury after breaking down. 🤞🏼

ReplyDeleteWe were visiting my BIL in Syracuse. We were driving through the beautiful back roads of Western NY...in July (the only time to visit Syracuse, LOL) we had the windows down then all of a sudden our drive got really stinky. I asked BIL what in the world was that...Here 30 years later I still remember
