A Request for a Prayer - With Update

Dad with family dog Dottie who is VERY camera shy.

I got word today that Dad's "Tired on Tuesday" and "Sniffles on Wednesday" is "Full-blown Pneumonia" on Thursday.

He is 97 in three weeks, has cancer, and congestive heart failure.  He was doing Nautilus at the YMCA until he was 90 and golfed until he was 92.  He still lives in his home of 60 years.  I pay for a full-time nurse because he won't live with us (which I get) and he does NOT want to leave those memories, having outlived two wives and two children in that home (I'm the baby, adopted very late in life).

But today, I got a call that he is in ICU. Don't  pray that he is miraculously healed, as honestly, he is SO ready to go to his reward with his Saviour.  Just pray that God's Will be done and that whatever days he has left are pain-free and surrounded by family and love.

That's all we can ask for.

UPDATE:  After a night of rest and a lot of prayers headed his way, Dad's doc sent a second set of swabs to the lab and this set came back totally negative for pneumonia.  Yesterday, he tested positive, today NOT.  He's breathing better, was joking with me this evening and will go home tomorrow.  I have arranged for an extra nurse to sleep over in case there are any unexpected issues, (he normally has nursing care 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) but that is wonderful news.  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  He's looking forward to his 97th birthday party in a few weeks!

  6. Thanks everyone. My husband caught a flight from Europe this morning (he is there on business). If I go silent, it's not necessarily that he took a downturn but simply we don't have internet where he lives.
