Sepia Saturday - a Wedding

Mom's still doing the weird work hour thing, but I found a post to put up for Sepia Saturday. It's her wedding picture, as she put Dad's ring on him. It was taken with a friend's cell phone but it is her favorite picture from the day.This was in October 2 years ago. Mom and Dad were friends for a lot of years, the bestest of friends. Mom said he was so much younger than she (24 years) she knew they'd just be friends. But Dad thought otherwise. Dad's an engineer - he's smart like that.

They wore Victorian garb and told their friends in the wedding party to dress however they wanted. They had a bridesmaid in a kilt, some in Renaissance wear, and all sorts of fun things.The minister who married them is a retired prison chaplain, married to a female pilot friend of Mom's. They got married at Mom's house and there was toasts and cake, followed by dinner at an English Brew Pub. It was a grand day, one where Barkley ran off with the pillow for the ring and they stayed that night in a haunted bed and breakfast that had a garage full of British Cars while their friends stayed with Barkley. They only honeymooned one night as they didn't want to leave Barkley, who was a senior dog.

I'm sorry I wasn't there, but I'm SO happy they love each other so much and are my Mom and Dad.

We're at sea again out here floating around all week, then in a US port on Sundays.

Murphy - yes - 24 years. I'm blessed with really good skin though my metabolism moved to Aruba when I turned 50 and hasn't sent a postcard. Sunscreen is a redhead's best friend.

About Barkley and His Mom

My Mom started this blog due to requests from friends who wanted a place to go for stories of her furry friend Barkley that weren't in the book and stories of my rescue and new life in my furever home. She donates all of the proceeds from her writing to animal rescue and groups that train search and rescue and service dogs but that's OK, as she still gives me lots of dog treats and toys.

The Book of Barkley is Mom's first memoir. She used to be a jet pilot for somebody's Uncle but now has a Ph.D. in something involving science and forensics which is like TV but without expensive suits or cleavage. Additional mayhem is provided by my Dad and our 100-year-old "fixer upper" Mission Bungalow.

Her second memoir "Saving Grace - A Story of Adoption" was published in April of 2015". Her Third Book - "Small Town Roads", her first Fiction Novel was published October of 2016 and was an NPR selected "2017 must read" and 2017 Readers Favorite International Book Award GOLD for "Fiction - Religious Theme". Her 4th book, "Calexit, The Anthology", a Novella with other authors, was published in October of 2017 and was on the Amazon Best Seller's list two days later. Her fifth book "True Course - Lessons from Life Aloft" was a #1 best seller at Amazon 24 hours after publishing so I think she has been bribing you all with treats.
