Finding Erma Bombeck

Abby Lab here -

I need some assistance here.  You have to tell me who Erma Bombeck is?

Mom just did a new radio interview for her new novel.

After her last interview, one of her social media friends who had never heard her voice said  "with her Midwest accent" she sounded just like Erma Bombeck, not at all what he expected.

Mom laughed so hard at that she snorted tea out her nose. "I have an accent?", she said.

So who is Erma?

Anyway. Mom's book was one of four selected by NPR WNIJ/WNIU for their Spring Read series and Mom gets interviewed AND reads an excerpt (there are two links on the page, one for the excerpt that was picked by the station and one for the actual interview).

    SHE has read most of Erma's books. Never heard her though.

    BaaaaaaWaaaah... we asked our ANCIENT Mom and she Instantly said that she used to LOVE Erma B.. WE have NO clue who she was though.

    Erma Bombeck was a humorist, author of many books, I remember reading her books in the 70's. I listened to your mom's interview, and have to agree with her - what accent? Thanks for the link, I enjoyed the interview.

    Emma Bombeck was the lady who said: I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage. I like that, so it was a fab compliment for your mom

      I remember that one - priceless! Having been raised by a Swedish/Norwegian Mom and a Norwegian stepmom after Mom died, I can relate to that kind of thinking.

      Dona - Thanks for your kind words but Mom promised that after the third book was done, she's spend more time with Dad and me and not ignore us while she's behind a computer all evening after being at work all day. I miss her when she's doing book stuffs.
