Greetings from Chiberia!

This morning the Windy City dawned with snow left from the weekend and windchill of MINUS 20 below.  You can even see a little path the squirrels have made, making a beeline from the back Spruce tree to the ones that shelter the food I put out.

Hello Monday.
We didn't get a whole lot of accumulation, but it's super cold and we're supposed to get another 5-6 inches of snow tonight.
Under one spruce it's sheltered from the worst of the snow, so I scattered seeds and peanuts for the birds and squirrels.

Then the critter water dish was cleared of ice and filled with gently warmed water.
After that, I refilled the two feeders and added a fresh Suet while Abby went out. This little red bird was waiting for me.
Mom, why don't you just stay inside where it's warm?

I can't let the little animals go hungry Abby, and the river is frozen over and if they eat snow for water, they lose body heat and energy.
No Mom, I wasn't rolling in the snow, I was guarding the fenced part of the yard against invading critters!
Why do you ask?
I don't know Abby, maybe because Mr. Bun is still hiding under the lilac bush, while you walked right by to your favorite rolling spot!

  2. You have a very kind heart and we are sure all those critters appreciate it.

It is cold here too and we got that small bit of snow yesterday. More tomorrow but it looks like it will be another little bit. No complaints here - we Sibes will take what we can get!!!

  4. When you gotta roll, you gotta roll! Now, we noticed that all those critters got food EXCEPT a certain Lab. We hope that was rectified.
