    1. It was funny, we joined this church shortly after I moved full time to Chicago. There are a LOT of Lutheran churches in the area and the pastor asked why I picked this one. I gave him two reasons. (1) The interior of the church is almost identical to the Lutheran church I grew up in, just smaller in size and (2) when I peeked into the refrigerator in the church kitchen there was a 24 pack of imported beer in there :-) (we have beer and wine at our church picnic and annual German night).

    1. Our pastor asked me to take some pictures for our church website so I went over during the week to take some. This was one of my favorites.

  6. We thought the same thing about it being a very inviting entryway. Simple and elegant all at the same time.

  7. The church was built in 1925 and the stained glass and the stonework is awesome. We have a great pastor - he's in his late 30's and very smart (I just beta read his Master's Thesis) but he has a delightful sense of humor and everyone, of all ages, just loves him. We're small, about 90 members but between book clubs and exercise class, dinners, potlucks and German night (with a band and beer) we have great fellowship.
