Dog Training Begins

Lorelei had her first orientation and evaluation with professional dog trainer SUSIE MAZZORANA from Problem Solved Dog Training from Joliet IL. We were so impressed by her. She doesn't just teach the dog, she teachers the dog's family to teach the dog. By the end of the session, with treats and a clicker, Lorelei was dropping the fetch ball (for once), moving away from getting underfoot on a leash, and staying.
Having lived her whole life as a breeder she didn't know ANY dog behaviors such as sit or stay and we'd had little luck teaching her. It was a fun time as you can see by the above pic, taken when we were done.

The prior pictures were hilariously bad.  (click on the photo to enlarge it)
What the dog??

Who IS this person and why is she hugging me?

If you live in the Chicagoland area, I'd heartily recommend Suzie and her training service.

  5. Good news ... our Dougie had been abandoned, abused ... but a few years now have passed and we are thrilled by how smart he is. Now, new commands are quickly learned (he had to pick up several new ones recently due to my hip replacement surgery and my stumbling and
bumbling around the house! ... and he did it!) ... labs are amazing I truly believe in their ability to learn, when they receive love, attention and good care in return. Laralei is only at the beginning and yet no doubt, she will go far!

  6. Momma says she wishes Suze was closer to her. I don't know why. It's not like *I* need any training!

  8. A good trainer is worth their weight in gold, especially with rescued pups. Keep up the good work, Laralei!
