Saturday Eats - It's So Fluffy!

It's Saturday - time for a trip to the Farmer's Market for fresh veggies then home to do some painting followed by a frosty adult beverage on the porch.  Until I'm back a clip from one of my favorite movies and a recent weekend  kitchen experiment (made without the assistance of a cookbook OR Minions)

It's So Fluffy Waffles with  Maple Bourbon Cider Syrup (Recipe in comments)

These waffles have a consistency almost like pastry or pancakes, very fluffy, tender and light in crumb with just enough crisp on the top to hold in those delicious pockets of butter and homemade syrup. If you're used to a Crisp Belgium Style Waffle, give them a try, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The hot syrup can be made with ingredients you likely have on hand - a cup of maple syrup, a cup of cider, a pinch of cayenne and a half a shot of Bourbon (more depending on your relatives that are visiting).

Serve with butter and add some crisp bacon or sausages and sliced peaches.

And the corn version below, replace 1/4 cup of the flour with cornmeal and replace the sugar with honey.  The rest of the directions remain unchanged.

  1. Dear LB thank you for letting me know about Maddie the Pug. I have posted on POTP. I suggested that folks leave their purrs here since Maddie's mom doesn't blog any more.
I sure do remember Maddie and all her travels.

    Here is my comment

Dear Maddie's mom I send you many hugs and sympathy at the passing of Maddie.
I sure do hope by now our two Madi's/Maddies have met and are romping OTRP.
Madi was a wee bit envious of Maddie's curly tail.
    Hugs Cecilia

  2. Looks sooooo delish. Kudos on doing a fabulous meal without the use of minions. They stay away from my kitchen too. *sigh*
