Time for that Vet Visit!

Abby had her annual check up today. My husband took the morning off to take her. She LOVES going to the vet and gets so excited I can't walk her in without her pulling on my bad knee. So EJ does Vet duty. When we first got her they thought she was 9 years old (she's been dumped - no background info). She looked it after having litter after litter of puppies, and probably being left outside a lot. She had a very grey muzzle and was very scared and very skinny when she got to her foster Mom for heartworm treatment. But we've had her 5 years now and there is no way she is 14. The Vet updated her records to show her as being 10 and a half years old. He agreed there was no way she was 14.

Her lungs and heart are good, she has no growths anywhere, muscle tone is excellent and ear are clear. She got her nails trimmed and came home for an extra treat and time to wait and bark at the "foodables guy", our outstanding Swchan's delivery guy Todd Good. (Their certified gluten free pizzas are the best and my husband loves their Crispy Taters with my meatloaf).

That is a wonderful report. Mom wishes someone would tell her they were wrong about her age and she is really 20 years younger:)

That's outstanding news! If only I could turn the clock back for Sam. At 13 1/2 he is starting to show signs of slowing down (and sadly he's no fan of vet visits like sweet Abby). He wants to crawl in my lap at the vet and be pitied. Talk about a drama queen.

About Barkley and His Mom

My Mom started this blog due to requests from friends who wanted a place to go for stories of her furry friend Barkley that weren't in the book and stories of my rescue and new life in my furever home. She donates all of the proceeds from her writing to animal rescue and groups that train search and rescue and service dogs but that's OK, as she still gives me lots of dog treats and toys.

The Book of Barkley is Mom's first memoir. She used to be a jet pilot for somebody's Uncle but now has a Ph.D. in something involving science and forensics which is like TV but without expensive suits or cleavage. Additional mayhem is provided by my Dad and our 100-year-old "fixer upper" Mission Bungalow.

Her second memoir "Saving Grace - A Story of Adoption" was published in April of 2015". Her Third Book - "Small Town Roads", her first Fiction Novel was published October of 2016 and was an NPR selected "2017 must read" and 2017 Readers Favorite International Book Award GOLD for "Fiction - Religious Theme". Her 4th book, "Calexit, The Anthology", a Novella with other authors, was published in October of 2017 and was on the Amazon Best Seller's list two days later. Her fifth book "True Course - Lessons from Life Aloft" was a #1 best seller at Amazon 24 hours after publishing so I think she has been bribing you all with treats.
