Time's Almost Up!~ Doggie Dinner Time

Abby Lab eats the same time every day.  5 PM.  If work has me running late, her afternoon dog walker will feed her.

You would think she has a wristwatch because if you are not picking up that bowl by about 4:57 she is snooting you and doing the "it's food o'clock" dance.

My husband was using a "use or lose" vacation day today to do some plumbing in the basement so he was home when I got home   Abby started doing her dance and he looked at his phone and said: "it's 4:59."

I looked at Abby and said: "it's a minute early, you're going to have to wait".

At that point, I started humming the theme song from the US TV game show  Jeopardy.

Except it was with lyrics:

Food Food Food Food
Food Food Food
Food Food Food Food
FOOD
Foo Foo Foo Foo Food
Food Food Food Food
Food Food Food
.......

Yes, we are weird.  And we wouldn't have it any other way.

  1. We too know when it is dinner time, pretty much around 5:00 here too. But we get started with the push as early as 4:00 - we figure it can't hurt to try:)

  2. Hey ABBY.... YOU can Tell TUMMY TIME just like I do. THAT is another thingy we have in common... Except I want to eat at 4:00 instead of 5 like YOU do. I don't KNOW how you can STAND that additional HOUR of Torture... You SHOULD be SERVED at 4:00. Just sayin.

  3. BOL it is funny how humans need a clock to know time. I guess we're just smarter.

    Aroo to you,

  4. We usually eat around 3:30 when the kids get out of school. There's a choice of barking at the kids, or letting some other dog get your dinner. Food always wins! We start lobbying about 2:30, but it doesn't work. And now, school let out for the summer on Friday, so we have to eat later! UNFAIR!
SHE also makes up words to songs and jingles.

Heheheh that reminds me of Angel Jade.... it worked in my favour, that internal clock; if I was a minute late rising, the nose would be in my face... of course for her it meant breakfast but for me it meant I caught the bus on time!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  9. Yup. Doggies (and kitties) are good at telling time with their tummies! It used to be we could leave food out and the dogs would eat when they were hungry. They didn't over eat because they knew the food was always there. No problem with Charisma, Ginger, and Joey. However Chester will eat everything all the time if we let him. So now we have to see the food o'clock dance.

  10. I was lucky Dad fed me right on time cuz Mom came home with a cold, and she's sniffing and sneezing and not feeling too good. I'm going to go cuddle with her and we'll be back tomorrow.
