Moms, Doctors, and Toe Trucks

Abby Lab here - things are kind of quiet around here.  Mom was NOT feeling good today and was crying when she tried to put her socks on because her slipper suddenly didn't fit on one foot.  I asked what was wrong and she said

Go Out!  So I expected to go to the door but she ignored me.

Well, that's what it sounded like.  She said it's something that hit her when quit taking hormone replacement as she was worried about cancer risk. She doesn't eat much meat and she doesn't drink beer at all, just a small glass of wine before dinner sometimes. Excessive meat and alcohol can sometimes cause Go Out! but not with the amounts she has so the doctor first thought that she'd broken a bone in her foot.  When that was ruled out he ran blood tests. It was Go Out! The doc said that happens sometimes when women go into Men-O-Pause (does Dad know about the pausing thing?)

The main drugs they give for this she can't take due to kidney issues so she just has to put up with it till her toe deflates.

Her whole foot is swollen and red and it makes her cry.

I suggested calling a toe truck.  Mom did not find that funny.

Go Out! is apparently REALLY painful and she cried more when she had to walk to the bathroom.

I will be glad Dad is home from Texas tonight.

    1. Thank you Vic - it's miserable to say the least, ranking up there with childbirth on the pain scale. I did manage to get a few hours sleep.

  4. Oh NO!!! Poor Mom. Our Mom had a cousin who suffered terribly from gout too. It can be so painful. We hope that swelling goes away quickly. Please give your Mom some sweet kisses from us.

  5. We've never had a 'Go Out' with those symptoms, sounds excruciating! We hope it gets better soon, because a dog needs to get attention. (And it doesn't sound like much fun for your peep!)

My human sissy has been suffering thru crazy stuff with Men o pause for bout 18 months, no Go Out though. She's had all kinds of tests since December. One thing for sure in Men had Men o pause they would cry like they had Go out.

    1. I was taking a bio-identical hormone (almost no cancer risk) from Smokey Mountain Naturals and was doing SO well, no hot flashes, no gout, then our basement flooded while husband was gone and I forgot to reorder and didn't take all week. Eating half a Sara Lee Pound cake and a bunch of salt water taffy didn't help (sugar is a trigger for gout). But have your sissy check out SMN products. They are very inexpensive and seriously no hot flashes in like two years and my skin is no longer dried out. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Husband has been fetching me water and Ibuprofen and is currently making supper after doing all the housework and shopping I normally do on Saturday.
