Playing Chicken

My husband came home from work and said: "so how is the healthy eating" coming along?  I mumbled something vague. Then he was "did you go anywhere today"

I finally said, "why are you asking?" -

He pointed me to the trash on the back porch grinning.

Busted.

I used to eat at Chick Fil A every week, sometimes twice if I did their breakfast when I was in Indianapolis as there was one 10 minutes from work.  Then I moved to Chicago and the nearest one was a 30-minute drive each way.

They built one in the next Village!

And by the way - I had their healthy grilled chicken wrap sandwich which I brought home as I had a web meeting.

The waffle fries don't count as I ate those on the drive home.

What is YOUR favorite Chick Fil A item?

  1. Ha!!! That's Mom's favorite sandwich from that Chick-Fil-A place - but hold the avocado. She doesn't do that stuff. We have never had the pleasure of sinking our teeth into one of their nuggets, but one of the little grandbipeds speaks very highly of them.

    1. They were named #1 fast food restaurant last year. Their amazing waffle fries is their #1 best seller but the Chicken sandwich is amazing. The secret recipe for the breaded chicken sandwich gives it a taste all its own. Chick-fil-A describes it as "a boneless breast of chicken seasoned to perfection, hand-breaded, pressure cooked in 100% refined peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips." The sandwich regularly ranks near, or at, the top of chicken sandwich lists.

They also do chicken strips, soups, salads, and grilled items and breakfast (I love the little chicken mini’s which is small chunks of the breaded spiced chicken served on little yeast rolls that are lightly coated with honey butter. They make their lemonade from scratch using real lemons (I literally buy mine by the gallon from them, though I order the Stevia sweetened kind for no calories).

But my favorite part is the employees – they are unfailingly well groomed and friendly. Unlike the greasy guy with 6 facial piercings that used to greet me when I went to the “other” place for my “surly meal”, it’s always a pleasant experience and most have an older employee that just goes around the restaurant keeping the tables spotless and making sure you are happy.

  6. Oooh, waffle fries! Momma says those are tasty, but she doesn't have them much because she mostly gets their breakfasts. Chicken & egg bagel!

  7. I'm a vegetarian so no Chick-Fil-A for me. Sugar in the form of Dunkin Donuts on the other hand...guilty as charged. 🍩

  8. The Classic without pickles on a multigrain bun, except during summer when their Frosted Lemonade is my meal of choice. I too love this chain for their excellent food and friendly, efficient service!

    1. I LOVE lemon so haven't tried the Frosted lemonade as I was afraid it would be "crack" to me. The frosted coffee is pretty darn good though. Ditto on the no pickles!

  9. Haven't been there in years, even though there is one at the mall. Must go again soon, especially as I have a gift card to use there. So, if I understand right, waffle fries eaten in the car contain no calories...I will remember that!
